Viktor & Rolf Fall 2026 Couture

What makes something truly luxurious? For Fall 2026 Couture, Viktor & Rolf explored that question through a collection that placed spectacle and substance side by side. Titled “Gilded Age 2.0,” the Dutch design duo examined the era of excess we find ourselves in, asking whether beauty comes from the material itself or from the craftsmanship and imagination behind it.

Presented on a circular platform resembling a bedroom, the show unfolded like a conversation between two reflections. Models Nathalie Haerlemans and Elpida Voryas Georgiadi moved in near-perfect unison, revealing mirrored versions of the same silhouettes: one crafted in shimmering gold fabrics covered with sequins and embellishment, the other recreated in humble burlap.

Rather than positioning one as more valuable than the other, Viktor & Rolf blurred the line between opulence and simplicity. Couture techniques transformed both materials equally, with gold fringes echoed through carefully frayed edges, and intricate beadwork mirrored through delicate knots and hand-finished details. The collection became a reminder that true luxury lies not only in precious fabrics, but in the artistry required to create something extraordinary.

The final looks captured the collection’s central tension, with sculptural lettering spelling out “Restraint” and “Decadence” across the shoulders of the models. In a fashion world increasingly shaped by visibility and spectacle, Viktor & Rolf offered a thoughtful reflection on what luxury means today — and whether the things that shine brightest are always the things that matter most.
