For Spring 2027, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell brought their Cabinwear concept to New England, mixing nautical nostalgia, Ivy League references and the playful theatricality that has become central to the label.

After introducing Cabinwear last season, the engaged designers turned their attention from the forest cabin to the lake house, using New England as a loose framework for Spring 2027. Their inspiration was less about authentic coastal dressing than the idea of it: an imagined retreat populated by sailor dresses, cracker-jack trousers and scarf-neck tops. That distinction is important to Tanner Fletcher, where American nostalgia is routinely filtered through camp, humour and a deliberately heightened sense of fantasy.

The nautical references extended into swimwear and sportswear, with belted briefs in patriotic colours and the label’s first women’s one-pieces. Silk boxing shorts offered another playful interpretation of athletic dressing, while embroidered boats and berries appeared across knitwear, referencing New England’s pick-your-own culture. Stripes were deliberately mixed and mismatched, bringing an eccentric take to the Ivy League prep that has been appearing across the season.

At the same time, the collection showed the two sides of Tanner Fletcher developing in opposite directions. Cabinwear is becoming more accessible and everyday, while the eveningwear is growing increasingly elaborate, with polka-dot satin tailoring layered beneath organza and a theatrical interpretation of Holly Golightly’s little black dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. A Watteau train added a touch of old-fashioned drama, suggesting that the label’s fantasy can extend well beyond its more commercial pieces.

That balance between practicality and escapism feels increasingly important to Tanner Fletcher. The designers are building a wardrobe that can move from playful Americana and leisurewear into full evening spectacle without abandoning the sense of humour that connects the two. Spring 2027 keeps the brand moving forward by making its nostalgic references feel less like literal costume and more like an imaginative world of its own.
