Sportmax Spring 2027

Sportmax’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection was shaped by an increasingly familiar summer reality: extreme heat. The design team described the collection as a response to this year’s heat waves and a “longing for lightness”, expressed through organza trousers, pinstriped voile tailoring and sleeveless coats. Yet the collection was less interested in simply dressing for hot weather than in translating that idea into Sportmax’s sharper, more urban vocabulary.

The lightness was at its best when it came through fabric and movement. Sheer organza trousers floated over pinstriped Bermuda shorts, while bi-level skirts were designed to trail and drift as models crossed the white carpet. Power suiting was softened through translucent voile, and flowing trousers were pulled tight at the ankle with leather clamps. The contrast between strict tailoring and barely-there materials gave the collection some of its most interesting moments.

There was, however, a deliberate contradiction running through the clothes. Long suede skirts, double-layer blousons with high collars and plenty of black leather seemed almost perversely heavy against the collection’s central idea of escaping the heat. The tension worked better aesthetically than practically, particularly with the sculptural blousons, which had a strong presence despite their weight. Elsewhere, a futuristic edge appeared in racer-back mini dresses, silver hip rings, Lucite heels and bangles, while loose jeans and striped business shirts grounded the collection in more familiar city dressing.

Ultimately, Sportmax remained most convincing when it leaned into its slightly intimidating approach to urban clothes. The collection did not attempt to become soft or overtly romantic simply because the season demanded lightness. Instead, it found ways to make transparency, movement and technical details sit alongside the brand’s harder attitude. The result was a wardrobe that could feel icy even while responding to a world that is getting considerably hotter.
