Saint Laurent Spring 2027

Anthony Vaccarello marked his 10th anniversary at Saint Laurent with a collection steeped in gold, memory and the house’s unmistakable glamour. Rather than focusing on a single silhouette, the designer drew from across Saint Laurent’s history, revisiting trench coats, safari jackets, pencil skirts, luncheon suits and cocktail dresses through a distinctly gilded lens.

Gold appeared in almost every imaginable form. Lamé, organza, guipure lace, chiffon, brocade, jacquard, metallic cotton and latex transformed familiar Saint Laurent shapes into something more dramatic, shifting between liquid shine and textured richness. Beneath three enormous gold chandeliers, the collection felt theatrical without losing the sharpness that has defined Vaccarello’s tenure.

There was a distinctly emotional quality to the presentation. Vaccarello, who chose not to give his usual pre-show interviews, described the collection as deeply personal, while the soundtrack included passages from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116. With the Eiffel Tower glittering behind the runway and Charlotte Gainsbourg appearing for the finale, the evening carried the atmosphere of a moment being marked, rather than simply another season.

Whatever comes next for Vaccarello and Saint Laurent, Spring 2027 was ultimately a celebration of the codes he has spent a decade refining. Gold became both colour and metaphor, turning the house’s familiar wardrobe into something more luminous, extravagant and slightly melancholic.
