Marking 25 years of the label, Rachel Comey looked to the eclectic women of New York and the unconventional life of artist Rosalyn Drexler for a collection rooted in individuality and everyday dressing.
Rachel Comey celebrated 25 years with a collection that felt closely connected to the women who have shaped the brand. Inspired by Rosalyn Drexler — painter, writer, nightclub singer, comedy writer and former professional wrestler — Comey drew on her varied life without allowing the reference to overwhelm the clothes. Cracked surfaces, bold colour and wrestling-inspired details appeared throughout, giving the collection an eccentric but considered edge.
The strongest pieces were those that blurred the boundaries between day and evening. A vivid green textured column dress had presence without feeling precious, while an icy blue dress skimmed the body over flat white shoes. Ruched pink satin was paired with white socks, deliberately disrupting the sweetness of the fabric and giving familiar femininity a more relaxed attitude.
That same instinct ran through the daywear, where oversized T-shirts met silk, loose shorts were interrupted by metallic paillettes and tailoring revealed flashes of bright colour underneath. The clothes felt designed for real New York lives — dinner, galleries, the subway or a late-night bodega — rather than a single polished occasion. Even the evening pieces retained that sense of ease.
After 25 years, Comey’s strength remains her ability to make thoughtful design feel like part of everyday life. Spring 2027 does not impose a particular idea of who her woman should be; instead, it reflects the individuality, curiosity and slight eccentricity that have always made the Rachel Comey world feel so distinctly New York.
