Brooks Brothers Spring 2027

Returning to New York Fashion Week for the first time since 2018, Brooks Brothers looked to its extensive archive while giving American classics a more colourful, relaxed and contemporary direction.

After 208 years, Brooks Brothers is hardly short of heritage, but creative director Michael Bastian is interested in making sure the brand remains part of the conversation. For Spring 2027, he revisited the label’s most recognisable staples, including its Oxford button-down, double-breasted sack suits, seersucker, madras and critter-embroidered knitwear, updating their proportions and styling for a younger generation.

The collection drew unexpected inspiration from Monaco in the early 1980s, bringing Riviera colour into the traditionally restrained Brooks Brothers wardrobe. Bold striped shirts, colourful popovers, raw silk blazers and windbreakers made from shirting fabric sat alongside V-neck sweaters with contrast detailing, creating a more relaxed take on classic American prep.

A second capsule shifted the mood towards Utah’s Amangiri resort, using faded browns and ivory across a more tailored but equally laid-back wardrobe. Elsewhere, upcycling artist Jack Wooster reworked classic pieces with his barking dog illustration, replacing the familiar sheep in the Golden Fleece logo and adding a playful contemporary touch.

The collection ultimately made a simple argument for the continued relevance of classic dressing: the clothes do not need to change dramatically if the way they are combined does. For Brooks Brothers, Spring 2027 is less about reinventing 208 years of history than showing a new generation how much possibility remains within it.
