Polo Ralph Lauren Spring 2027

Ralph Lauren knows that few things are more American than the idea of going somewhere else. For Spring 2027, Polo Ralph Lauren took that instinct to Paris, turning La Grande Menuiserie into a sun-washed landscape of sea grass, wildflowers and whitewashed wood. It was a fitting setting for a collection built around discovery: the familiar Polo wardrobe travelling well, picking up new colours, textures and objects along the way without losing its American centre.

Karen Brown Brody, senior brand creative director for women’s Polo and RLX, returned to the idea of Polo as an inherently American and classic proposition, but used travel as a reason to loosen the rules. Feminine florals met Indian Madras plaid, relaxed workwear collided with tailoring, and proportions shifted between deliberately tiny and generously oversized. Micro paper-bag shorts were paired with sharp tailored jackets, while polo shirts came either cropped and slim or slightly looser with slouchy sleeves. Voluminous trousers were balanced by narrower jackets, including a signature Eisenhower suede style and a leopard-print calf-hair newsboy jacket. The effect was familiar Ralph Lauren, but with the wardrobe slightly rearranged.

Some of the collection’s most interesting pieces came through craftsmanship. A hand-crocheted cable-knit dress in white or blue brought an artisanal quality to the otherwise recognisable Polo vocabulary, while cotton windbreakers were given shell- and bead-embroidered collars. Racerback swimsuits, floral jacquard board shorts worn with cropped tuxedo jackets and breezy silk blouses with exaggerated collars added to the sense of a wardrobe assembled from different places. Wrap skirts, shrunken piqué jackets and pieces finished with mother-of-pearl details made the collection feel less like a single destination and more like the contents of a particularly well-travelled suitcase.

Accessories pushed that idea further. Handcrafted shell, lapis and turquoise jewellery, created with second-generation Diné and Hopi artist Piki Wadsworth through Ralph Lauren’s Authentic Makers programme, gave the collection a strong connection to craft and place. Raffia, nylon, twill and leather bags joined colourful new versions of the Blaze Bag, while slipper loafers and sandals worn with socks added a slightly preppy looseness. Chunky belts in braided Indian Madras and plaid offered a playful alternative to the more formal cummerbund.

The collection arrives at an interesting moment for Polo, with the brand preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027. Next month, PoloFest in Tokyo will bring together vintage merchandise, speakers and activations exploring the brand’s history. In Paris, Spring 2027 offered a preview of why that history continues to have such staying power. Polo Ralph Lauren is still built around the same American classics, but the interesting part has always been what happens when those classics leave home. This season, they came back with a few souvenirs.
