Miu Miu Spring 2027
Miuccia Prada has never been particularly interested in staying in one mood for too long. After the outdoorsy, nature-focused feel of Miu Miu’s Fall 2026 collection, Spring 2027 moved somewhere altogether more suburban: part old-school YMCA, part school gym, part backyard gathering, with just enough glamour to keep things unmistakably Miu Miu. The setting made the intention clear. Guests sat on bleachers reminiscent of a swimming pool or high-school gymnasium, while the clothes borrowed from the wardrobes of students, athletes and spectators before giving them Prada’s particular sense of polish.
Sportswear provided the foundation, but the styling was deliberately unruly. Many looks combined swimwear bottoms with cropped workout tops or warm-up jackets, then added something decidedly less athletic, usually a checked wool blazer or pleated skirt worn low on the hips. Lace-front Wrangler jeans brought a touch of Western Americana, while colourful New Balance sneakers, arm-band sweaters and clinging raglan-sleeve activewear pushed the collection towards the nostalgic language of school sports. Small leather vests and wrap skirts added another Western note, while men’s looks, including those worn by Jamie Bell, mixed zippered cardigans with wool trousers and close-fitting athletic pieces. There were also pouf-y miniskirts, retro athletic separates and plenty of kilts, all styled with the kind of deliberate awkwardness that has become one of Miu Miu’s most recognisable signatures.
What kept the collection from feeling like straightforward nostalgia was Prada’s ability to make familiar clothes look slightly strange again. Vintage curtain prints appeared across dresses and separates, while crinkled silks, flashes of crystal and rich Milanese colour brought a little sophistication to the otherwise casual wardrobe. The result was neither pure sportswear nor conventional occasion dressing, but something closer to what people actually wear when one part of the day bleeds into another. A warm-up jacket meets a school uniform; a kilt meets a sneaker; athleticwear gets paired with something unexpectedly delicate. Even the casting played into that democratic approach, with Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Noah Jupe, Chandler Kinney, Donkey Kid and Louisa Jacobson joining younger models and different generations on the runway.
Prada herself offered a typically concise explanation afterwards: the intention was simply “to bring elegance to sports.” It is perhaps the most useful way to understand the collection. Miu Miu Spring 2027 does not need a grand social theory attached to it. Its appeal is in the collision of things that should not quite belong together, and in the way Prada continues to make ordinary clothes feel desirable simply by putting them in the wrong context. This season, the gymnasium became the runway, the school uniform became fashion and sportswear got a distinctly Miu Miu makeover.
