Loewe Spring 2027

For Loewe’s 180th anniversary, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez looked backwards and forwards at once. Their Spring 2027 collection brought the house’s Spanish heritage into conversation with their own American sensibilities, mixing baroque references with ’90s nostalgia, preppy dressing and a distinctly outdoorsy streak.

The designers eased away from the high-tech spectacle of their previous shows, instead allowing the clothes and craftsmanship to speak more quietly. Leather remained central, while gauzy dresses and shirts made from glass beads introduced a more unexpected texture. Beach references ran throughout, with high-waisted trousers and pencil skirts split open over the hips as if a wetsuit had been casually pulled down.

An outdoorsy wardrobe emerged through cycling caps, technical windbreakers and gorpcore colours, balanced by a softer preppy vocabulary of backwards polo shirts, chinos and squishy boat shoes. Basketball jerseys were given an unexpected transformation into tiered chiffon dresses, finished with tie-dye trims and tiny beads.

The collection also revisited Loewe’s own history. The house began as a leather workshop and only introduced its first garment in 1960, a suede blazer, which McCollough and Hernandez reworked into a sleeker contemporary silhouette. Leather blousons, suede coats and draped pieces reinforced that connection to the house’s roots, while their New England upbringing and American identity pushed the wardrobe somewhere new. Spring 2027 was ultimately a conversation between two worlds: old Loewe and the Loewe still being discovered by its new creative directors.
