Kolor Fall/Winter 2026

Taro Horiuchi navigated a new course for Kolor’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, centering on the solitary, mythic world of the Lighthouse Keeper. Moving away from the house’s usual playful eclecticism, Horiuchi explored themes of isolation, survival, and resilience at sea, transforming the runway into a coastal landscape defined by relentless weather and psychological tension. Heavy-duty layering and deconstructed maritime uniforms formed the backbone of the collection, evoking garments shaped by years of exposure to the elements.

Salt-encrusted wools, high-density technical membranes, and asymmetrical outerwear—featuring exaggerated collars and spliced panels—gave the clothes the appearance of having been weathered and repaired over time. The palette leaned into oceanic blues and slate grays, punctuated by flashes of luminescent orange that recalled a lighthouse beam cutting through fog. Knitwear was intentionally frayed, while clever layering often disguised single garments, reinforcing Kolor’s signature mix-and-match construction and the theme of enduring a long, solitary voyage.

Amid the brooding narrative, Horiuchi maintained a refined sense of restraint, balancing avant-garde tailoring with functional wearability. Accessories and details—sailing ropes as belts, pops of color, and tailored capes—added visual intrigue without overwhelming the maritime sensibility. Ultimately, the collection married practical protection with conceptual storytelling, presenting a wardrobe that is as sophisticated as it is resilient, and a testament to the brand’s continued evolution under Horiuchi’s guidance.
