Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2027

For Spring/Summer 2027, Dolce & Gabbana returned to one of its most familiar sources of inspiration: Sicily, but approached it with a sense of freedom rather than nostalgia. Titled Stravaganza Siciliana, the collection was built around the idea that there is no single way to dress, with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana encouraging a deliberately unpredictable mix of patterns, textures and references. Set against the backdrop of a Baroque frescoed palazzo, the show felt less like a history lesson than an invitation to raid the family wardrobe and make the pieces your own.

The designers' signature codes were all present, from boudoir dresses and intricate lace to heavily embellished jackets, but the styling gave them a more playful edge. Burgundy bell-bottoms covered in roses appeared beneath a sheer polka-dot blouse, balloon shorts were paired with a floral pussy-bow shirt, while baggy denim emerged beneath a floor-length leopard-print cape. Leopard was one of the collection's recurring motifs, appearing across knitwear, skirts and sharply tailored jackets, while crochet flowers, animalier prints and colourful embroideries pushed the maximalism further.

Much of the collection's appeal came from its craftsmanship. Military-green jackets were decorated with coral appliqué, referencing the treasures of the Sicilian sea, while pristine white dresses, shorts and tops showcased traditional needlework. Crochet flowers were worked into black lace, and brocade, damask and furnishing fabrics were transformed into dresses and jackets. Jewellery completed almost every look, with pearls, cameos, crosses, coral, brooches, stones and talismans layered alongside embellished shoes and handbags.

There was something deliberately excessive about it all, but the excess had a purpose. Dolce & Gabbana's Sicily is not presented as a fixed aesthetic; it is a wardrobe passed between generations, continually altered by whoever happens to be wearing it. That idea of individuality gave Stravaganza Siciliana its energy. The collection was extravagant, heavily decorated and unapologetically feminine, but it also understood that the most interesting part of getting dressed is deciding what belongs together.
