Balenciaga Spring 2027
Pierpaolo Piccioli continued to reshape Balenciaga for Spring 2027, bringing couture techniques into everyday clothing and giving the house a fresher, more youthful attitude.
The collection centred on stitching, with dense layers of thread used to sculpt shirts, T-shirts and leather jackets without traditional boning. A white shirt with a cinched, softly flaring waist was paired with bias-cut white jeans, while stitched collars and yokes created subtle structure around the face. Piccioli also introduced bias cutting to jeans and unlined wool suits, translating a traditionally couture technique into clothes designed for everyday movement.
That idea of couture meeting practicality ran throughout. Unstructured cotton jackets were finished with shirt backs, while a lightweight mango-coloured jersey dress was covered in lantern-like garlands. Comfort, lighter construction and adaptability became part of Piccioli’s wider vision for the house, without losing the precision of his cutting.
There were still flashes of Balenciaga’s recent past in oversized bombers, distressed denim, puffy boots and exaggerated sunglasses, but the overall mood was less severe. Bright colours, inspired by Indian flower markets, brought energy to the collection, while draped jersey added softness and volume. For his third ready-to-wear show, Piccioli seemed increasingly interested in defining what Balenciaga can become rather than simply repeating what it has been.
