For Spring/Summer 2027, Yuhan Wang turned the bedroom into a place where innocence and desire collide, blurring the boundaries between getting dressed and getting undressed.

Yuhan Wang has long been drawn to a fragile, romantic vision of femininity, but for SS27 that softness took on a more sensual and slightly unsettling quality. The bedroom became the collection’s setting and its metaphor: familiar in daylight, stranger after dark, and private enough for a woman to exist outside the expectations imposed on her. The runway moved at an intentionally slow pace, allowing the clothes to feel almost voyeuristic, as though the audience had been given a glimpse into a moment that was never supposed to be seen.

The boundary between lingerie and daywear was deliberately difficult to locate. Dresses and skirts incorporated knicker and drawer-like constructions, while lace briefs and checked cotton were layered and collapsed into single garments that appeared to be caught halfway through the process of dressing. It was an extension of Wang’s romantic vocabulary, but with more tension underneath it. Pieces looked delicate from a distance before revealing something stranger up close, creating the feeling of a wardrobe suspended between sweetness and desire.

The bedroom’s smaller objects became part of that world too. Powder compacts, blush cases and miniature mirrors were transformed into bags and charms, while empty jewellery settings appeared as belts and earrings. Hand-drawn cherries and provocative motifs appeared across close-fitting T-shirts and intimate pieces, introducing a darker undertone beneath the collection’s prettiness. The effect was less about straightforward seduction than the uncomfortable space between what is innocent, what is private and what becomes charged when viewed from the outside.

Wang’s most compelling idea for SS27 was that a woman does not have to be one thing at a time. The bedroom offered a space where different versions of the self could coexist — romantic and sexual, composed and vulnerable, sweet and slightly sinister. By pushing her signature fragility towards something more exposed, Wang created a collection that feels like a dream until you look closely enough to realise there is something unsettling underneath it.
