Pronounce Spring 2027
Ten years after launching Pronounce, designers Yushan Li and Jun Zhou returned to Milan Men's Fashion Week with a collection that looked confidently towards the future while honouring the cultural dialogue that has defined their brand since day one. Presented at Fondazione Sozzani, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection marked the label's first decade with a wardrobe that felt lighter, freer and more refined than ever.
Built around movement, transparency and fluid tailoring, the anniversary collection distilled many of the ideas that have shaped Pronounce over the past ten years. Rather than staging a retrospective, Li and Zhou demonstrated how their signature blend of Chinese heritage and contemporary European tailoring continues to evolve into something increasingly sophisticated.
The result was one of Milan's most quietly accomplished collections.
Ten Years of Cultural Dialogue
Since its inception, Pronounce has occupied a unique position within contemporary menswear, balancing traditional Chinese craftsmanship with modern Western tailoring.
Spring/Summer 2027 revisited many of the themes explored in the designers' previous collections. Architectural references drawn from the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda merged with ideas inspired by traditional Chinese kite-making, creating garments defined by verticality, lightness and movement.
Rather than referencing heritage literally, the designers translated these influences into modern silhouettes that felt relevant for today's global luxury customer.
It was a celebration of cultural exchange rather than historical reproduction.
Tailoring Designed to Move
Movement became the defining principle of the collection.
Relaxed tailoring flowed naturally around the body, while layered looks introduced softness without sacrificing structure. Lightweight jackets, fluid trousers and elongated silhouettes created a sense of effortless motion, making each look appear almost weightless as models walked through the gallery space.
Traditional workwear also received a contemporary interpretation.
Utility-inspired jackets featured oversized pockets and carefully folded construction details inspired by the structural geometry of Chinese kites, adding subtle technical interest without overwhelming the clean aesthetic.
The tailoring remained precise, but never rigid.
Transparency and Lightness
One of the strongest elements of the collection was its sophisticated use of sheer fabrics.
Organza tailoring introduced a remarkable sense of transparency, allowing classic suiting to feel unexpectedly delicate while retaining its architectural form. Rendered in gentle neutral tones and soft pastels, these pieces reflected the collection's overarching emphasis on lightness and ease.
The translucent garments balanced elegance with practicality, offering a fresh interpretation of tailoring for increasingly warm climates.
They also reinforced the designers' ongoing exploration of layering as both a visual and functional technique.
Tradition Reimagined
Chinese influences remained woven throughout the collection without becoming overly literal.
Collars inspired by garments from the Ming Dynasty introduced subtle historical references, while the traditional Zhongshan suit was softened through lighter construction and more relaxed proportions.
Rather than presenting cultural motifs as decorative features, Pronounce integrated them naturally into the collection's tailoring language.
The result felt authentic, contemporary and remarkably understated.
Modern Craftsmanship Meets Sustainability
Alongside delicate organza, the collection explored a thoughtful mix of innovative materials.
Wrinkle-resistant wool, washed linen and increasingly sophisticated eco-leather demonstrated the designers' commitment to combining craftsmanship with practicality. The material choices created garments capable of maintaining their elegant appearance while supporting everyday wear.
Pronounce also expanded its accessories offering, introducing a new line of handcrafted bags developed in-house. Oversized totes, carried by models throughout the presentation, reinforced the brand's artisanal identity while adding another dimension to its growing product universe.
Looking Forward After a Decade
Anniversary collections often become nostalgic exercises, but Pronounce resisted looking backwards.
Instead, Spring/Summer 2027 felt like the confident beginning of a new chapter. Every silhouette reflected the maturity the brand has gained over the past decade while retaining the youthful curiosity that first distinguished Li and Zhou's work.
Their ability to merge Eastern craftsmanship with Western tailoring now feels less like an experiment and more like a fully realised design language.
That confidence made this collection particularly compelling.
A Refined Vision for the Future
Pronounce's Spring/Summer 2027 collection demonstrated how far the label has come in ten years.
Through fluid tailoring, innovative fabric development and a sensitive balance between tradition and modernity, Yushan Li and Jun Zhou delivered one of the season's most elegant expressions of contemporary menswear.
Rather than relying on spectacle, the collection impressed through restraint, craftsmanship and clarity of vision.
As Pronounce enters its second decade, the brand appears lighter, more confident and more internationally relevant than ever.
