Loro Piana Spring 2027

Loro Piana’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection found its setting in the grand library of Milan’s Palazzo di Brera, surrounded by books, chandeliers and the imposing portrait of Empress Maria Theresa. It was an appropriately serious backdrop for a collection built around practicality, with classic wardrobe pieces presented almost as studies in purpose. The camel blazer, field jacket, duffle coat and pleated skirt were not treated simply as fashion objects, but as solutions to everyday dressing — pockets, movement, fastening and protection becoming part of their appeal.

That practicality extended into the fabrics, where Loro Piana’s real strength was most apparent. Donegal tweed was unexpectedly smooth, wool and silk brought elasticity to fine knitwear, while suede jackets had an almost liquid softness. Seersucker appeared in quarter-zips, technical silk shaped bombers and the familiar vocabulary of country dressing was given a distinctly Loro Piana treatment. There was a British quality to the palette and floral patterns, with golf, the countryside and outdoor pursuits providing the collection’s underlying context.

The clothes were at their most convincing when they resisted the temptation to announce their luxury. There was little interest in spectacle or obvious eveningwear; instead, the collection concentrated on the small pleasures of exceptionally made everyday pieces. Even the more directional looks remained grounded in function, creating a wardrobe that feels designed around how someone might actually move through their day rather than how they might photograph in it.

That philosophy continued beyond the clothes, with Loro Piana artisans demonstrating hand-stitching, screen-printing and the finishing of accessories within the presentation. It reinforced the idea that for the house, craftsmanship is not decoration added to a garment but part of how the garment works. Spring/Summer 2027 may not be interested in reinvention, but it makes a convincing case for something quieter: that when materials, construction and purpose are considered properly, functionality can become its own form of luxury.
