Issey Miyake Fall 2026

For Fall 2026, Satoshi Kondo presented an elegant, sculptural collection for Issey Miyake that explored the natural qualities of materials and the interplay between cloth and body. Inspired by the tactile calm he experienced holding a simple stone, Kondo sought to “yield to cloth’s nature,” letting fabric and texture guide silhouette rather than conventional design processes.

The collection emphasized subtle sophistication with a palette of grays and blacks, punctuated by lemon and dark orchid accents. Garments were crafted in pleats, knits, and fine-textured fabrics, their volumes and folds informed by natural forms rather than imposed structure. Highlights included an oversize pinstripe jacket that swirled around a matching skirt, a V-neck burgundy dress created from a single rectangular cloth, and lacquered bustiers 3D-printed to follow the contours of the body—modern interpretations of the brand’s 1980s Body Works.

By merging Japanese craftsmanship, cutting-edge 3D technology, and thoughtful restraint, Kondo translated a quiet, meditative encounter with nature into fashion that is simultaneously sculptural, wearable, and intellectually rich, reinforcing Issey Miyake’s ongoing dialogue between innovation and the intrinsic beauty of materials.
