Doublet Fall/Winter 2026
Doublet’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, titled “AIR,” turns the invisible into the extraordinary. Masayuki Ino and his team focused on the substance we all take for granted: air. From yarn created by captured CO2 to bio-based resins made by microorganisms that consume greenhouse gases, and even carbon-derived ink, the collection experiments with materials born from the atmosphere itself. The process was far from straightforward—air-derived yarns shrank unpredictably, textures resisted shaping, and fabrics behaved unexpectedly—but Ino embraced the challenge as a meditation on persistence and innovation.
The collection balanced this material experimentation with Doublet’s signature sense of play. Balloon-animal scarves, bubble-wrap–inspired pieces, a sweater depicting a factory emitting gray clouds, and a windswept suit littered with leaves and newspapers sat alongside staples carefully zhuzhed for texture. Even cheeky references to Harry Potter’s Marge Dursley made their way onto T-shirts, blending humour with a serious exploration of sustainability. Each piece felt both conceptual and wearable, a nod to Ino’s ability to merge technical ingenuity with theatrical storytelling.
At its heart, “AIR” is a study of the invisible processes that shape our world—and the patience required to work with them. Ino’s use of CO2-captured fabrics and exhaust-based dyes signals a commitment to experimentation that goes beyond aesthetic novelty. “Our brand is not as big as others, but it’s important to use newly invented materials,” he said, highlighting how design can be both provocative and responsible. The result is a collection that floats between whimsy and wonder, turning environmental innovation into high-concept menswear.
