Coach Spring 2027
For Coach’s 85th anniversary, Stuart Vevers looked forward rather than back, turning celebration into softened tailoring, slouching silhouettes, tarnished metallics and a little after-dark glamour.
Coach is turning 85, but Stuart Vevers had no interest in treating the anniversary as a history lesson. Instead, the Spring 2027 collection looked towards the future, translating the idea of celebration into clothes that felt lived-in, slightly undone and ready for a long night. Washed black, grey, tobacco and khaki formed the foundation before hazy pastels, sequins, lamé and metallics gradually brought the party mood to the runway.
The collection played with the tension between getting dressed and getting undone. Tailoring came deliberately softened, with slouching trousers, elongated jackets and soft jersey pieces that Vevers described as feeling “like a loved sweatshirt”. Leather was turned inside out, linings were exposed and jackets were tied around waists as though discarded halfway through the evening. Even the glamour felt slightly imperfect, with tarnished metallics and shimmering dresses suggesting the aftermath of a good night rather than the pristine arrival at one.
Coach’s bags remained central, including burnished totes, patchworked Tabby bags and an inside-out Brooklyn style with leather versions of the everyday objects normally hidden inside a handbag. By the finale, long shimmering dresses and metallic surfaces brought the full celebratory mood to the runway, before a young Bronx string orchestra closed the show with MFSB’s “Love in the Message”. For an 85th anniversary, it was a fittingly forward-looking celebration: unmistakably Coach, but less interested in preserving the past than in giving it a new life.
