Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2026

For his debut Haute Couture collection at Chanel, Matthieu Blazy offered a poetic vision, blending the House’s heritage with a softer, ethereal world. Metamorphosis explored the intimate dialogue between garment and wearer, where movement, lightness, and individuality converge. The collection unfolded like a haiku, poised between stylised nature and suspended time, creating a quiet intensity that spoke to couture as both craft and emotional experience.

The show opened with the iconic Chanel suit, reimagined in sheer silk chiffon layers, before the collection entered a state of transformation. Women gradually became birds, singular yet collective, realised through the exceptional savoir-faire of the tailoring ateliers and le19M. Raven-black silhouettes gave way to vibrant plumages achieved through embroidery, pleating, layering, and weaving, suggesting feathers without literal replication. From grey pigeons to flamboyant roseate spoonbills, slender herons to crested cockatoos, the effect was an oneiric forest of couture in motion, a fleeting moment of wonder.

Colour and technique were equally expressive. The palette ranged from structured black tailoring to complex hues evoking exotic plumage, while interior details appeared in unexpected places: stitched into pockets, suspended within reworked bags, or hidden inside garments, revealing the private dimension of couture construction. Each piece became a vessel for personal storytelling, giving the wearer a canvas to carry meaning beyond the surface.

Blazy’s debut presented couture as both tradition and dream, rooted in craft but lifted by imagination. Through subtle symbolism, meticulous construction, and delicate references to nature, he affirmed Chanel’s codes while opening a new chapter defined by poetry, freedom, and quiet wonder.
