Lanvin Marks the Year of the Horse with Limited Capsule Collection

Lanvin is ushering in the Year of the Horse with a Lunar New Year capsule collection that feels both celebratory and contemplative. In collaboration with Beijing-based contemporary artist Lv Wenting, the French house explores themes of connection, care, and continuity. Lv Wenting’s introspective practice, deeply rooted in her experience of motherhood, aligns seamlessly with Lanvin’s heritage, echoing the creative relationship between Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter Marguerite that has long defined the maison’s ethos.

At the centre of the capsule is a motif of three intertwined horses, representing protection, empathy, and affectionate bonds. This design is applied across ready-to-wear pieces and accessories, giving the collection a unifying visual language. Beyond the clothing, Lanvin has extended the collaboration into immersive retail experiences in Shanghai and Hong Kong, where bespoke lanterns and Miao-embroidered tapestries created by Lv Wenting illuminate boutique windows. Watercolour animations add a fluid, poetic dimension, making the celebration as much about storytelling as it is about style.

The timing could not be more auspicious. The Year of the Red Fire Horse arrives on February 17, 2026, a rare sign that comes around only once every 60 years. Known for its restless energy, daring momentum, and appetite for transformation, the Fire Horse sets the stage for bold action. Lanvin’s capsule, with its soft, snuggling horses and vivid red pieces, offers a grounding counterpoint to the year’s inherent intensity. It is a reminder that strength can be gentle and that celebration can coexist with reflection.

For those welcoming the new year in style, the collection also doubles as a guide to Lunar New Year traditions. Red pieces ward off evil spirits, while careful attention to household rituals ensures good fortune for the months ahead. Lanvin’s capsule is therefore not only a wardrobe update but a symbolic embrace of luck, connection, and renewal, perfectly suited for the Fire Horse’s promise of audacious beginnings.
