Sandy Liang Spring 2027

For Spring 2027, Sandy Liang imagined her princess discovering sport, combining technical fabrics and functional outerwear with tulle, bows and playful details in a collection that felt youthful without becoming childish.

Liang has always drawn from her own memories and obsessions, turning seemingly personal references into a recognisable fashion language. This season, that meant imagining what would happen if her idealised princess became interested in sport — less about actually playing and more about the fantasy surrounding it. A pastel castle set the scene, but the clothes found a more interesting balance between athletic practicality and romantic dressing.

Performance fabrics were paired with tulle, lace, satin and jersey throughout the collection. A ruffle appeared over track trousers, technical cording traced party dresses, and a satin bra was styled with oversized khaki shorts, while a cropped trench brought structure to a floating lace skirt. One black technical jacket was particularly effective with a tulle skirt trailing long pointed ribbons, allowing utility and fantasy to occupy the same silhouette.

The playful details were unmistakably Liang: bunny shoes, oversized bows and a bum bag covered in tiny compartments. The accessories treated utility almost as decoration, questioning what practical objects are supposed to do when they become part of the fantasy. Yet beneath the whimsy was a renewed focus on wardrobe building, particularly outerwear, with technical fabrics, strong knitwear and sharply constructed pieces giving the collection a practical foundation.

What makes the collection work is its refusal to confuse youthfulness with childishness. Bows, bunnies, princess references and even a castle could easily become overly literal, but Liang keeps the woman at the centre of the clothes rather than turning her into a character. Spring 2027 shows how effectively the designer can expand her vocabulary while keeping the emotional world that made Sandy Liang distinctive in the first place.
