Reverie by Caroline Hu Fall 2026

Caroline Hu’s fall 2026 collection was her most compelling showcase yet, blending her mastery of fabrication with a cinematic sense of storytelling. The show featured a collaboration with choreographer Emma Portner, whose group performance brought the garments to life, imbuing the collection with movement, energy, and a rare sense of hope amid uncertain times. Many pieces featured Hu’s signature watercolor-effect smocking, some layered with silicon-dipped dry roses, creating a poetic metaphor for beauty emerging from destruction.

Cloud-like silhouettes in hand-distressed cotton mesh evoked a tactile nostalgia, reminiscent of a worn towel Hu has kept since childhood. She experimented with layering and pocket placement, building mesmerizing visual patterns, and even deconstructed traditional menswear into bustle dresses, highlighting her fascination with inside-out construction and reimagined forms. The collection balanced whimsy with precision, offering garments that were both intricate and wearable.

A standout element was Hu’s debut collaboration with Crocs, which added a contemporary, playful edge. Dancer Matt McCreary sprinted to collect the new Bae clog styles, featuring knitted uppers and hand-embroidered silk ribbon flowers, while the ensemble cast expressed collective hope and resilience through dance. In this show, Hu demonstrated that fashion could simultaneously be poetic, performative, and utterly modern.
