Marine Serre Fall 2026

Few designers blur the line between art and fashion quite like Marine Serre, and this season she’s turned that question: “is fashion art?” into a resounding statement. Following the inclusion of her upcycled tapestry coat in the “Louvre Couture” exhibition, she has reunited with the Louvre Museum for a collaboration that fuses couture, craft and cultural commentary. Her Fall 2026 collection features five one-of-a-kind pieces and a capsule launching in April, crafted from unsold Louvre gift shop T-shirts. The centrepiece is a “Mona Lisa” dress stitched from nearly 3,000 puzzle pieces, varnished to a painterly finish after 420 hours of meticulous work, the sort of obsessive artistry that has become Serre’s signature.

Having stepped away from the traditional runway for two seasons, Serre has leaned fully into the idea of clothing as art. “My goal this year is to frame fashion as an art form,” she said during a preview at her Paris headquarters, noting that she wants her designs to be appreciated as lasting works rather than fleeting trends. Her lookbook, photographed by Arash Khaksari, invites viewers to step inside a painting, a cinematic play on those viral AI videos that animate Renaissance masterpieces. The pieces themselves blend historical romance with technical precision: poet blouses and portrait necklines meet sportswear details, while neoprene corsets, mesh panels and scuba tops bring an edge of modern rebellion.

Every garment feels like a dialogue between past and present. Pannier skirts are built from upcycled shirts and scarves, inflated with hip padding and anchored by sleek, futuristic tailoring. A column dress constructed from 850 makeup brushes nods to the idea of transformation, the beauty ritual elevated to couture. “It’s about taking things with little intrinsic value and showing how time and effort transform them,” Serre explained. As she prepares to attend the Louvre’s annual gala dressed in her own designs, it’s clear that the conversation between art and fashion has found one of its most articulate voices — and this season, she’s speaking fluently in both languages.
