Maitrepierre Fall 2026
Alphonse Maitrepierre described his Fall 2026 collection as a meditation on the city and its rhythms, a study of crossroads where people move, live and breathe. His vision was filtered through a retro-futuristic, RPG-inspired lens, turning the ordinary into the slightly surreal. Maitrepierre cited Jean-Luc Godard’s sci-fi film Alphaville, in which poetry reawakens a society drained of emotion, as a central inspiration. That idea of bringing poetry into everyday life became the guiding principle behind his designs.
True to the Maitrepierre ethos, ordinary clothes were elevated through thoughtful experimentation. Recycled materials were repurposed using couture-level techniques, transforming familiar garments into imaginative statements. Striped jerseys were woven into graphic patterns reminiscent of pedestrians crossing streets, classic polos were spliced into coats, and a ballgown was reshaped into a hooded tracksuit dress with dramatic volume. A restrained palette of greys, browns and natural tones allowed cut and construction to take centre stage.
Key pieces demonstrated the collection’s playful yet precise approach. A red body-hugging draped dress, a bustier with laser-cut fringes, and an asymmetric faux-fur miniskirt all showcased how the everyday could become poetic when pushed slightly out of the ordinary. Maitrepierre’s Fall 2026 line was a reminder that fashion can transform the mundane into the extraordinary, creating garments that are both conceptual and unexpectedly wearable.
