Francesco Scognamiglio Spring 2026 Couture
Spirituality and symbolism pulsed through Francesco Scognamiglio’s spring couture collection, unveiled this week in his elegantly moody Milan apartment. The space, adorned with Baroque friezes and ornate decorations, provided the perfect backdrop for a lineup that the designer has titled The Resurrection. It is his sophomore effort since reclaiming his namesake brand last year, and it offered a striking interplay between devotion and glamour. Literal Christian iconography appeared on a duchesse cocktail dress in ivory, sculpted with a silver-finish Crucifixion by Neapolitan artisans, and echoed in lace embroidery on a chiffon midi tunic edged in Baroque-inspired lacework. These statement pieces seemed destined for the red carpet, conjuring visions of Madonna or Lady Gaga in full show-stopping mode.
Elsewhere, Scognamiglio returned to the sensuality and sparkle that have become his signature. Corsets with silver-thread ramage embroidery revealed subtle briefs in soft peach, while a tulle mermaid gown, dotted in turquoise crystals, traced the curves of the female body and was paired with a tonal cropped faux-fur jacket. The collection also explored playful references to the 1950s, including cone bras encrusted in black and white crystals, and a tuxedo with extra-wide lapels and power shoulders, continuing the designer’s exploration of masculine-feminine contrasts.
A dramatic centrepiece was the Blue Fairy wedding gown, displayed in the foyer, with its voluminous skirt and draped strapless bodice evoking Old Hollywood glamour. Bridal wear has become a growing focus for Scognamiglio, who recently announced a licensing deal with Putignano’s Valentini Spose to develop the category further. Across the collection, The Resurrection balanced reverence and theatricality, demonstrating that couture remains both a spiritual and sartorial experience under Scognamiglio’s watchful eye.
