Dior Spring 2027

Jonathan Anderson’s Dior is getting lighter. For Spring 2027, the designer responded to rising temperatures with a collection that swapped the heavier constructions of his earlier work for sheer fabrics, soft volume and a distinctly romantic mood. Shown in the Tuileries gardens on another unusually hot Paris afternoon, the collection felt almost deliberately weightless.

The change was visible from the first look. A sheer suit jacket was paired with a tiny circle-cut skirt made from layers of fluffy ivory chiffon, while waterfall skirts, gauzy pleats and barely-there layers created movement without relying on the elaborate structures that defined Anderson’s first Dior womenswear collection. “I like this idea that all of that, and the shoe, could go into a shoebox,” he said, and the idea of portability seemed to capture the collection’s new lightness.

Romance came through in more decorative ways, too. Jackets assembled from hundreds of hand-dyed petals appeared against a hazy backdrop of trees, water and smoke, while an updated corolla skirt combined a structured pleated layer with something much softer underneath. Shearling-lined bed jackets and checked organza coats brought back Anderson’s idea of “broken aristocracy”, this time paired with metallic python-effect trousers and wispy fringe.

There was still plenty of Dior history in the collection, but Anderson seemed increasingly interested in loosening it rather than reproducing it. Heritage became something to be pulled apart, softened and rebuilt through new proportions and fabrics. Spring 2027 may not have settled every part of Anderson’s Dior vocabulary yet, but it showed a designer becoming more comfortable with the idea that his version of the house does not need to arrive fully formed. It can change, season by season, as he works out what Dior looks like now.
